This will be a fairly short devlog, but I felt I should post something. As of right now Verdant Village has officially been posted in an alpha state on itch.io, link below. This has been a long time coming, I’ve been working on implementing as many features as I can for close to a year now. While it is far from complete, I think the basis of the game is very much intact.
As for the future I’ll be continuing to update this version as much as I can, as quickly as I can. The first priority will be to handle any bugs that players find to get this version as stable as possible.
From there the next major system on the docket is archeology. However, alongside that should be more NPCs, specifically ones that integrate into the archeology system as well as ones to make already finished content actually available to the player in game, mostly other stores or quests. More zones will also be added to expand the map.
Aside from those things I’ll be taking a look into what I’ve dubbed the “topic” system. The dialogue for NPCs is fairly basic at the moment, but I’d like to expand it out with this system and eventually integrate in friendships, and romance, etc. I’m still drafting up exact details on that system for now, but I’m sure more information will follow. For now, if you are reading this, I hope you enjoy the first version of Verdant Village.
